Morocco has some of the world's most dramatic driving routes. Here's where a 4x4 makes the real difference.

Morocco's highest paved road. Dramatic hairpin bends, Berber villages, and the gateway to Ouarzazate and the kasbahs. A standard car can do it, but a 4x4 gives you confidence and handling on the tight switchbacks.

The full Sahara experience. The road to Merzouga is paved all the way, but once there, the sand tracks around the dunes require 4x4. The Duster handles these routes with ease. Do not attempt dune driving in a standard car.

The Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. The valley floor is paved but if you venture into the higher gorges or the Todra Gorge, ground clearance matters. The Duster is the right tool — comfortable on long highway stretches and capable on rough pistes.

Africa's highest ski resort in winter, a stunning plateau in summer. The road up from Ourika Valley is steep and narrow. A 4x4 is strongly recommended in winter for snow and ice. In summer a SUV gives extra confidence on the steep gradients.
The main road to Merzouga (Erg Chebbi) is fully paved, so a standard car can reach the edge of the Sahara. However, if you want to drive on the sand tracks around the dunes or visit more remote desert camps, you need a 4x4. We recommend the Dacia Duster for Sahara trips.
Yes. Our 4x4 vehicles including the Dacia Duster are authorised for driving on paved mountain roads and well-maintained pistes across Morocco. For extreme off-road or very remote pistes, consult us first — we'll advise based on your specific route.
Both have the same ground clearance and 4x4 capability. The manual is cheaper (€47/day vs €57/day) and more efficient on fuel. The automatic is easier to drive on mountain switchbacks and long highway stretches. If you're comfortable with manual gearboxes, the manual is the better value.
The Dacia Duster is arguably the best value 4x4 for Morocco. It's built and commonly sold in Morocco, meaning spare parts and service are available everywhere. 210mm ground clearance handles rough pistes well. Diesel engine gives excellent range — important for long desert routes.
Yes. Free pickup and drop-off at Marrakech-Menara Airport (RAK) is included with all our 4x4 rentals, the same as all our other vehicles. No surcharge.
